Hi, I'm Katarzyna Stępniak.

I'm a language teacher and teacher trainer based in Kraków, with professional experience in Poland and the UK.

My work has taken me through international education, British ELT, teacher development, academic management and independent teaching.

Today, these experiences come together in KAT ELT: my space for working with learners and teachers.

How I think about teaching

  • Language

    Language is something we use to communicate, explore and express ideas.

  • Skills

    Learning can develop communication, thinking, strategies and increasing independence.

  • Connections

    Learning becomes more meaningful when it connects with people, interests, ideas and the world outside the lesson.

High expectations should remain high; support should make those expectations accessible.

In practice that means differentiation, scaffolding and materials that take different learner needs into account.
