Teacher Training

Practical ideas. Thoughtful teaching. Real classrooms.

My approach to teacher training is practical, reflective and grounded in classroom experience.

I am particularly interested in what learners are actually doing during a lesson: how much they are thinking, communicating, making decisions and taking responsibility for their learning.

Areas of interest

  • Learner engagement

Moving beyond visible participation towards meaningful cognitive and social engagement.

  • Communicative teaching

Creating genuine reasons for learners to use language.

  • Project-Based Learning

Designing projects with meaningful outcomes, clear expectations and learner accountability.

  • Differentiation & inclusion

Maintaining high expectations while making learning accessible to different learners.

Project-Based Learning

More than making a poster.

Meaningful project work needs clear outcomes, accountability, language support, feedback and genuine reasons to communicate.

In practice, that has ranged from

  • beginners designing and presenting a robot
  • summer-school groups working on sustainability and global citizenship
  • advanced learners in academic debate and Model United Nations
